Universal Life Church

I have both studied and taught religious and spiritual studies for much of my life. I grew up with a strong Catholic spiritual practice, but over time became interested in comparative studies of world religions, and the underlying philosophy of religion. These days my Christian beliefs are tempered with an edge of Buddhist and Judaic Kabbalist practice, and I am open to the message of truth which lies at the inner heart of most of the worlds great faiths. 

I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in psychology and religion, and now an honorary Doctorate in Divinity from the ULC. It had always been my intention to enter the ministry, but it was only after finding the ULC that I realized I had finally found my true spiritual home, with its message of universal love and acceptance for all. 

I am now intending to progress my studies in philosophy and metaphysics with the seminary, and to expand my ability to practice, teach and lead in my spiritual path, more effectively with each day that is given to me.  

As a long time member of ULC, Rev. Long created the seminary site to help train our ministers. We also have a huge catalog of Universal Life Church materials.  As an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church for many years and it's Seminary since the beginning, I've enjoyed watching the continual growth of the seminary.

I am a Registered Nurse and work in a Faith Based Senior Living Community. I receive great satisfaction providing spiritual support to my residents and their families.  I love to read the Bible and have a great desire to continue to grow spiritually.

Reverend Kurt Fondriest, Ph.D. , MFA, ATR, REAT, CPC

    I became ordained through ULC after I earned my Ph.D. in Holistic Ministries from The American Institute of Holistic Theology. I always felt ministry as ones reflection from the inspiration they find in life.  I am a registered expressive art therapist, holding a MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.

    I have completed over five courses in the seminary and recently signed up for my sixth one, "Dr of Spirituality"  I find these courses very informative and I am honored to belong to a ULC as a free thinker and creative soul. I work as an expressive art therapist in Chicago for people living with various disabilities. I have been in the field for over 25 years. I have presented at regional and national creative art therapy seminars. I am an active writer, poet, artist and holistic minister.

I became ordained because I wanted to fill a need. There are so many people who do not fit into the cookie cutter faith that many religions seem to require. I have so much to learn from people who are deeply spiritual and yet have no place to share their vision of God.
